Hello

Could I please have some advice.

Im looking to sell my site but im not sure what to ask for it, i started the site around 24mts ago but did not do much to it for the first 12 mts, in the last 12mts i started to add products and exchange links and add content and in the past 6 mts the site is really starting to take off.

We make sales of £8000 PM and profit from that is around £1500.00 and adsense we get $100.00 PM, we get 950 unique visitors per day and over a million page hits PM, we have also just hit number 1 for many major keywords in google.co.uk and have many thousands top ten keywords.

At the moment we sell only around 170 products and if someone with more capital to add a bigger range they could be making 3-4 times what it does now.

We have a young family and not the capital or the time to make it bigger so we would love to know how we could value our site we the detaisl we have given.

We are uk based and sell mostly to the uk and some to the states and we would be selling about £5000 worth of stock with it.

Thank you for any advice...

Hi

Ive just been offered 12mts gross profits for my site plus they will purchase the stock of us, does that sound good? we have just hit number one for some great keywords so im worried that im selling the site short, the site is only making £1500.00 PM profit but should and could be making tons more than that.

When you sell a site should you not take into consideration how long you have worked on it and where you are placed in the search engines??

Any advice would be helpful

Dave

By chance do you happen to have a copy of your annual financial report (I'm assuming your incorporated)? There are several ratios that an investor would use to determine things like the liquidity of your business, whether your business would likely have quick access to capital via debt or sales of stocks.

I'm just a student of financial management at the moment but I would be happy to look over your financials and give you my opinion (note that I would in no way be willing to give you professional advice so please don't hold me liable).

It looks like that offer is based on your book value (by my initial feeling, not fact) which could be, and is very likely, much lower than your companies market value.

Hi Republikin,

In short the answer is no, the site has just started to make money over the past 5 months the previous 7 Mt's we were listed nowhere and as we had very little capital we did not advertise so we made little to no profit, the site is making profits of around £1500.00 PM after all outlays and this is growing monthly by about 10-15% due to our keywords getting better placed so more hits, we also stock only a min amount of products again down to capital so we should be making a lot more, but how can you price a business like that ?

Thank you for time and any advice would be great, we have the site up for £45.000 at the moment but i'm not sure if we are miles out one way or the other.

Regards

Dave

Its about $90000, not sure if the site would do you any good as its a .co.uk site, we are getting nearer to the top of google.com as we have one major keyword at number ten but most of the others are on the second and third page, at the moment 98% of all our customers comes from the uk and the shipping from the states would cost to much, unless you had someone over in th euk running it for you?

Thanks

Based on the fact that there is no financial information other than some basic income statements (I imagine you at least keep these) and a short history I certainly wouldn't pay 90K either. However, the point really is that a business' real worth is exactly what someone else would pay for it.

I know it can be built by someone like you for a lot less, but honestly what would you have charged her if you worked on it for a year, adding products, and loads of tools, content and SEO the site then it hit big would you have sold it to her for 150.00? i think you would agree you are not buying a template but a up and running business with proven stats and sales.

Only one site can be at number one and what price do you put on that ? some would pull their teeth out to be placed at number 1 in google out of 100 million other sites.

Regards

Dave

Sorry shannon you do make me laugh, if i was not so thick skinned i would be insulted, 1K i take that in less than 3 weeks as profit, you should really read the first post as it said i have been offered already £23K but i was trying to get an idea if it was worth more but you just blown that one out of the water.

Thanks

PS

None of my customers are looking for web hosting, but they are looking for baby shoes and if its not that hard to get to number 1 for words like baby shoes why don't you give it ago, i can point you to a few million site that would pay you for that PROMISE? anyway i could get my site to number one for web hosting if i could be bothered..

I certainly would. Unless the site is causing you more headaches than it is worth then, as I see it, you are making a profit and therefore it is worthwhile to hold out before selling.
