I am ready to sell the above site, which I have owned and operated for about 6 years. PR was formerly 8, recently changed to 7. I am the author of the Perl calendaring software which currently has more than one thousand registered (paid) users and many tens of thousands of people who have downloaded but never paid (potential income). I simply do not have the time or interest in maintaining the software or site.
TRAFFIC
For 2006, the site had about 200,000 unique visitors and served 860,000 viewed pages. Detailed traffic reports are available.
REVENUE
I currently dedicate no time to the site, maintaining the program, or supporting users. Last year the total income was about $10,000, with about $7,000 coming from new license purchases and $3,000 coming from advertising (not including AdSense). I have not done anything to generate more income, but I'm sure it would be possible. An email campaign to unregistered users 3 years ago resulted in $4,000 in sales in 2 weeks. At the height of the site several years ago, revenue topped $30,000 with no advertising. Google AdSense was recently added and in May 2006 it generated about $50.
MAILING LISTS
A list of over 1,500 registered users, including contact info and email addresses, comes with the site. An email-only list of unverified email addresses that have requested notifications of updates has over 1,600 contacts.
REFERRING LINKS
Google reports about 169,000 links referring to the site. Most of these are from sites using the software, which automatically has a link to calendarscript.com in the footer of the application output.
POTENTIAL FOR FLIPPING
There are a number of commercial calendar applications available on the web which may be interested in the traffic, registered user list, email notification list, and domain name from calendarscript.com. I may contact a number of these sites personally to see if they are interested in purchasing. Someone offering a decent price to me directly with the intent of doing the same may be able to flip the domain and make a quick profit.
PRICE
I am accepting offers. I don't have any interest in keeping the site anymore, but I can easily make $10,000 in revenue by sitting on it and doing nothing, so I won't let it go ultra-cheap. A purchase would include the domain name, all site content, exclusive ownership of all code, and rights to distribute or resell the software without limitation.
