Its been in the news that Microsoft is in talks with
Yahoo to acquire it. It also led to the increase of Yahoo’s stock value by over 18%.

With reports of Microsoft offering a $50 Billion buyout of Yahoo, and other reports brewing of a possible merger, the question is, would such a venture be beneficial to Microsoft or Yahoo?

Do you think it would be intelligent of Yahoo to accept such a merger or takeover? Should Microsoft continue to pursue Yahoo? Who will be get benefited?

Microsoft Buying Yahoo: Rumors Reappear

Quote:
A year ago, the two companies were reportedly in talks about a merger, but those conversations were dismissed as rumors and speculation. Well, here's Microsoft and Yahoo 2.0.

A pairing in the spirit of a superhero teamup could happen if the latest chatter about Yahoo and Microsoft proves true. Once again, a potential merger is being considered, as neither company has made gains against Google's search and advertising dominance.

When the execs from both companies start "categorically denying" they are in talks, then you can believe it will be happening.

They have not condemned the news! So it can't be a rumour either.

Me thinks you already answered your own question...

It never ceases to amaze me just how much money is made, (and lost), on the power of the almighty rumor. The first, obvious beneficiaries are the Yahoo stockholders, (who - whether the talks are taking place or not), are already laughing all the way to the bank.
